Which phone has the best QWERTY keyboard? - Page 2

The new Google phone will be out in about a week. You ought to hold back and see what it's like.

I'm happy with the iPhone. Maybe there are other good ones out there, too, but I've gotten used to it and am using it right now. I've used iPhones for about 2.5 years now and plan to stick with them.

I will take a hard look at the Google phone (my contract is up in a few months) but will likely go for the next gen iPhone that will be here this summer. My entirely speculative and unfounded opinion is that the screen will grow to almost the entire front of the phone and the next gen iPhone OS (which will come with the new model) will probably upgrade the virtual keyboard, as well.

I find it is very easy to text from the iphone with it's virtual keyboard. My dad recently bought the droid, and while I think it's a pretty cool phone I find that the keyboard it has is completely useless if you have decent size hands, the keys are very small, and trying to type just causes a headache. He even told me he doesn't even use the physical keyboard on it, he prefers the virtual touch screen for typing.

My HTC Wizard, the great-great grandfather of the HTC Touch Pro 2, has an excellent keyboard. It requires the perfect amount of pressure to type and I once even wrote/submitted a short paper on my Wizard when I was still in high school. And yes, my phone's 4 years old- and still working perfectly despite lots of abuse.

I haven't tried a Touch Pro 2 myself but I doubt the keyboard would get any worse considering HTC's commitment to quality.

Edit: Despite this, I'm looking at the Google Nexus One as a possible replacement- I've maybe sent 20 texts in my life so I don't need a physical keyboard. I've just never seen the point in SMS nor do I want to pay the exorbitant texting plan fees. Why hide behind text when you can just make a call, or better yet, talk to someone in person?

My BlackBerry 9700 has an excellent 'qwerty' keyboard. I'm typing out this message on it now.
