i currently have a iphone 3gs 16gb , but i dont like the battery life, and the sound is too cold for me i'm used to a very different sound on my discman
also it cant drive my panasonic headphones the volume is just too low
might be because of the volume cap, but i dont know how to remove it.

now i'm looking for a better player maybe the sony X or the cowon s9
how do these compare to the iphone,
also are any of these volume capped in eu ?
or what other option would you recommend.

thanks!

I vote cowon s9 or S:flo2, if you happen to be a true audiophile.

DAPs are only produced in France.

Well, the Consumer Electronics show starts in a few weeks in Las Vegas. It normally has some DAP announcements. I would hold off until then to at least what may be next.

However, if nothing new comes up:

Cowon=S9 or D2+
Sansa Fuze 8GB (can use micro SD cards for up to 16GB more)

All of the above are gapless and support FLAC

Sony does not support gapless or FLAC.

thanks for the comments,

Why would someone choose the s9 over the d2 with sd slot?
is the sq better ?
because if it was to be even i cant imagine someone not going with the expendability.

also i heard that the x has a warmer sound is this true?

edit: and i might wait for that show in vegas.
if it's going to be held shortly.
