I wasn't suggesting that no one should use the Cardas wire. I was simply pointing out that it's a Type 1 litz, rather than Type 2. Whether or not skin effect is anything one should worry about, there are some who do. And for them, it would be useful to know that not all litz is created equal.
100/45 works. Though you won't know all that you're missing until you step up to 165/46.

I didn't say shielding was pointless. I said it was overrated. And by that all I mean is that there are many instances, particularly in home audio, where it provides no particular benefit and can be done without.
That's not the same as saying it's utterly pointless.
Just overrated.
