Question regarding AKG K140; - Page 2

I have become the proud owner of the K140 for £20 including delivery. There is some info about them on the internet, but one thing I was looking to clarify is the years of manufacture. Are they really from the 1970s? They just look too new for that.

my sextett looks like I bought it brand new a couple months ago

They are from the 70s but back then they were from the future.

They look in very good condition, so i will post pictures when they arrive. Thirty year old headphones, wow!

And here they are, minor scratches that show up much better in the photo than the naked eye and a slight kink in the headband. Sound wise they are lovely and detailed through the midrange with little deep bass or crystal highs.

I am curious if these headphones had different terminations other than the normal TRS.  I saw a pair that looked like it had a five pin or something similar.

I know the K240 Sextett came with TRS and also a funky 5 pin type connector that I assume was a studio standard in Germany or Europe.  Or had some kind of studio application.  I believe they originally came with adapters, because I have seen some with, but some without.  But it's just a good excuse to give them a badly needed recable.  Which I haven't done for my sextetts or K340 yet!

I'm thinking of re-cabling my K240 M but I semi bent the metal badge that covers the screws while prying it up.  Does anyone know if there is a place to get replacement badges to replace the originals?
