Appreciate the input...as always

I didn't mean to create such a stir.

As always, these boards are a great place to mine nuggets of info and then test them to see what works.

It is especially kind that experienced people, (nc8000, HiFlight, qusp) just to name a few, take time to field noob questions from people who begin bass akwards

In the end we are all passionate about the sound and equipment and that is what makes it all so enjoyable!

Please keep offering any suggestions if you wish. I will keep reading the boards. And, maybe in a blue moon, we'll all get that moment of perfect sound and perfect cans!

Oh, by the way, there is a blue moon on New Years Eve! Early Happy New Year All!

I have a pair of Ultrasone hfi 780s. I have driven them well with a bass boost cmoy, an airhead, and on my Maverick I use two notches below 9 oclock for most listening with the bs2b crossfeed dsp (which dampens the sound slightly).

I believe that they will be easily powered by the D10, which I considered purchasing before I realized I did not need a portable solution. I find the sound to be very open sounding for a closed headphone. At the moment they are my only pair and I use them for music and gaming. They excel with Rush Moving Pictures, Massive Attack the 1998 CD, and The Clipse. They are adequate for stadium Rap such as Jay-Z Blueprint 3 (which I have found is not great on most headphones and is equalized to sound boomy in a Car) and female vocals such as Sarah McLachlan. They are poorer sounding with any of my lossy source material and some classical, although I wouldn't say they are bad.

It should be noted that I have the beyerdynamic velor pads on. I didn't listen to intently with the stock pleather pads before making the switch. You can do a search to find people's impressions as I believe there are a couple of threads on the matter.
