LOD Problem?

I have an Ipod Video 30gig and a FiiO E5 amp and had been using the standard mini-mini the amp came with. Well I recently acquired an LOD and it is the iBasso one and I get a message that says "FireWire connections are not supported. To transfer songs, connect USB cable provided." Any way to stop this? Thanks.

If I reset it it stops then as soon as I play another song it pops up. It keeps playing but will not let me leave that screen?

You might have a defective lod or you got the wrong one that isn't compatible with your ipod.

It said it was. Oh well I might can live with it. I just tried it with another 5th gen video I have and I got the message when I first put it in but then I hit the center button like it said and it hasn't come up again?

That iBasso one is some funky stuff then. I have had no problems with my ZYcable lod from Head-Direct. Wonderful sound, too.

My iBasso LOD works fine between an ipod classic and FiiO E5. So your ipod thinks it has been connected to a PC with a FireWire cable when you plug in the LOD? All I can suggest is that you try the 5Rs with your ipod to reset it and then try again. If that doesnt work, there could be an issue with the LOD. I have found that USB cables can suddenly stop working with my ipod. So I swap the one that came with my Nano with the Classic and vice versa and all is fine. These glitches are very irritating.

Well it works. I just keep getting the message. And I finally got the message on the other Ipod... I have no clue. If I RockBox will it give me this message?

Possibly.

I would say there is definitely an issue wit the LOD. I have come across this message when testing LODs I have made before usually when I have been testing an LOD with USB port and I have plugged and unplugged it quickly or have only plugged it in half way. the firewire pins (both power + and data -) are right next to the accessory enable pin, which is used as part of a quick hack to get iphone operation (probably what ibasso did)

I agree with qusp, you are having a problem with the LOD as I have had with USB cables. Exchange the LOD if you can. Otherwise FiiO are now selling their own LOD for about £6.
