The headband has a more oval-like shape length-wise indeed. Padding is fairly adequate considering the headphones weight next to nothing (180 g without the cable, it would be hard to make a lighter fullsize closed-back headphone).

 

No creaking noise coming from the headband when swiveling the cups, and I don't recall hearing any mechanical noise when putting them on, using them (and walking with them) and removing them. I say “don't recall” because I left them in storage at my mother's house and it has been a while since I've used them.
