Cheap, full-kit DAC or amp on a PCB?

Thread Starter
I'd really like to attempt another amp or DAC build (I ruined my CMoy PCB and I don't want to try and salvage the components and p2p it). So I'm looking to buy a full kit (getting all the parts for the CMoy was a bitch, and I had to order from 4 different sources.) that comes with a PCB and all the components. I don't want to spend more than $50 in case this turns out to be a total disaster... It seems like GlassJarAudio is one of the only places that stocks kits. Perhaps I'll go with the Bantam kit, but I want to know if there are other options out there. Thanks!

BantamDAC will be a lot of SMD soldering, you'll have fun.

As for 4 places to order from for a CMoy, that's crazy! You can get everything you need from DigiKey or Mouser. I like DigiKey for prices and selection of a few favorite components (Elna Silmic II caps and Panasonic POTs), but Mouser has a nicer catalog and stock Vishay/Dale resistors.

Anyway, picking parts is half the work in a project, learn to enjoy it... you'll do a lot of it later.

The GrubDAC can be had for less that then Bantam. No kit at this moment, but the complete BOM can be ordered from Mouser. All the parts are in stock on a good day. The PCM2707 can get back-ordered, but amb also stocks that in his shop.
