My New Grado Sr60is!!

If you have read any of my other threads, you know I've been looking for a new pair of headphones. Well, I've gotten my new Grados...and they are amazing!!!!!! When I first plugged them into my stereo, I was like, these are nothing special, but then, i realized that my head was stuffed up from a cold. I cleared my head, and...wow! Crystal clear, even before a break-in! They have been broken in all day and sound incredible. I'm listening to "Reach" by Eyes Set to Kill as I type this, and Alexia's sweet vocals are just as clear as the drums and guitar playing with her. Even the screams just seem, well, PERFECT. "Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper" by Dream Theater is just brought to life with these. Even the candy coated Owl City has a nasty bass kick. I also see (or hear, rather) what others mean when they say that these are "harsh sounding", especially with rock/metal (but that's not necessarily a bad thing, is it? I don't, i like it). I just wanted to say how amazed I was by these little guys. Oh, and how do some of you guys find these uncomfortable? I think that these are very nicely padded. Maybe not for 8 hours, but still soft to the touch. But, i still think that the Sony MDR XB500 headphones, from my original thread, wins over any headphone for comfort. (just my opinion, don't shoot me).

So, to wrap this up, AMAZING pair of headphones. I'd recommend them to anyone into rock/metal.
All I want to say is don't use these with badly downloaded music, because these will tear those mp3s apart (I've figured that out for myself)

Merry Christmas!!
Or Chanukkah! (I think that is how it's spelled...)

Awesome that you've found something nice! It's a good feeling.

Seems a lot of people on these forums recommend Grados in general, especially for rock/metal/etc.

just a reminder you can bend the headband to adjust the comfort to your liking.

Congratulations on your SR-60i's. I think the 60s are under-rated. Until you get into some heavy coin in Gradoland, they still provide the best bass of the lower-priced Grados, which is quite tight and controlled compared to a lot of headphones from other manufacturers. If you ever want to hear how much bass those 60s will produce, just pump them through a serious amp and you'll be blown away.

I remember the first time listening to a pair of SR60's after coming from gasp, a pair of Bose On-Ears. It was like the aural equivalent of removing your smeared spectacles, polishing them and putting them back on. The clarity was striking.

Iggy, I wouldn't knock it. It started innocently for me with a pair of Koss KSC-75's, and then over the course of this year, I've been through 80i's, 225i's, and I have just purchased my RS1i's...

Oh, and I'm 13 years old. That said, I'm probably going have to give up my university education just to pay off the mahogany beauties, but I've never been a long-term planner anyways xP

Welcome to Head-Fi... and sorry about your wallet...

I know these are open air....how much sound leakage is there? I bought my daughter some Audio Technica ATH-ES7 and she loves them (they are amazing just with the iphone), so I thought Dad needed some also. I thought about the Grado's, but concerned about disturbing others when listening to them....
