Yamaha receivers and HD lossless audio

Ok so I'm just wondering if theres anyone else who is experiencing the same thing or whether or not its just me having these issues. Basically when I'm running a Dolby True HD or DTS-HD master audio signal I can not turn any DSP modes on. It basically just goes into straight mode. What my question is in regards to is, when I play dolby digital or DTS soundtracks, I turn on surround decoder and in turn this allows me to hear surround sound over Silent Cinema when i plug my headphones in. If I leave it in Straight mode I basically get stereo 7.1 downmixed to headphones without positional audio. So I'm wondering if this is correct or just a hardware limitation on my receiver.

Thanks in advance

It's a hardware limitation, but there is a workaround if your Blu-ray player can decode the HD audio: if it can, let it decode the audio and send it as uncompressed PCM to the receiver. Now you can turn on Silent Cinema.

Silent Cinema only works with Dolby Digital, DTS, and PCM.
