Wow - nice thread.

I have heard a lot of the bands - and some I need to hear. A band I didn't see mentioned was Katatonia.

Katatonia - Night is the new day

Katatonia - Night is the new day is a fantastic album imo. So check it out. It can be a bit heavy, but I like that.

Hi Helledie, I have seen Denmark's Efterklang and Slaraffenland live, but other than that there does not seem to the same prog scene there. Is that right?

Yeah it's a bit slow on that front. Some people would mention Carpark North. No here it's more Indie music and stuff like that. Unfortunately not so much prog. Not if you compare to Sweden and Norway. Oh BTW we do have Mew. A really really great band. I have seen them live some times now - they are great. Check them out. The album Frengers is fantastic.

This is the song Snow Brigade from Frengers.

I haven't had the time to read the whole thread, so I apologize if they have already been mentioned, but one Swedish prog rock band you really must hear is Qoph. Check out "Dansar Galet Bakåt", their cover version of Captain Beyond - Dancing Madly Backwards.

Spotify: Qoph

Website: qoph.nu

A solo excursion for one of the members of Beadfish. Reminds me a bit of TNWOBHM and Rainbow.

Swedish band Siena Root. This album has a bluesy sound which reminds me of The Rolling Stones only psychedelic album 'Satanic Majesties Request'

Norwegian band White Willow. Anthemic but also mellowish prog with influences from King Crimson to Genesis to Yes. Really nice female vocals make this almost easy listening prog.

I think this fits nicely here:

Vote for Pain of Salvation in the Swedish Melodifestivalen!

http://svt.se/2.176206

Select 'Pain of Salvation - Road Salt' and click 'Rösta' (vote).

I think they deserve it, especially compared to the other horrible entries in the poll!

Just listen to Bosson once!
