My SA5000 left channel went out.. I made a thread about it.. Alex sent me a IM & said he would recable my headphone with a spare 650 cable free of charge. I only had to pay for the shipping. I found that to be very kind. & man of Alex APS stature, didn't have to go out of his way to help a total stranger.

A member who I won't name, bought me a pair of 701, & gave me 3 months to pay him back. This kind of kindness & trustworthiness is un heard of, & I was humbled, utterly grateful. I paid him back within a month.

Sent a PM to Skylab (earl I think). I asked him a question. He was very courteous, & even offered me his phone number to continue our conversation to help me. A true gem.

I returned the favor. I gave a member the portable headphone stand that came wit my HD595 free of charge.. & gave another member a spare 650 cable free of charge..

This IS what the Head fi Community should be about. We hear so much about scammers, etc.. But tis the season to share good deeds.

mrdeadfolx had a giveaway last Christmas where he gave away some nice LODs. This wasn't a random drawing though, winners had to actually need one. I needed one because I just built my dad a Cmoy for his SR225. mrdeadfolx graciously picked me as one of the recipients and now my dad can enjoy his SR225 with my Cmoy!

Indra (a.k.a. Contrastique) held a drawing where she was giving away a Behringer UCA202 USB DAC, even shipping it all the way to the US for free! This was for my girlfriend to use, since the headphone jack on her laptop was broken and she wasn't able to listen to the SR60 I bought for her.

Thanks again!

There have been lots of other members on here that have been very generous to others, these are just two of them that I have personally been helped by.

One day I plan on returning the favor by holding some of my own giveaways. I look forward to that.

There are many people here to whom I owe the pleasant debt of gratitude. Rather than trying to name everyone, I just say thanks to you all. Great members have made Headfi home-away-from home--both when I was abroad and when I was 'home', but home proved to be unheimlich.

But in all the instances of great advice, generous support, and superb camaraderie, the one moment that sticks in my mind is about four or five years ago, when I was still in Dublin. Everybody was talking about the amazing new PBS documentary about Parliament-Funkadelic that was airing soon, and I was just bemoaning the fact that I wouldn't get to see it. This Headfi member--I cannot remember who--recorded it to DVD and mailed it to me. It was an uncommon act of kindness, and I wish that I could remember who it was. Please, if it was *you* give a shout so that I can wish you a very happy Christmas!

A while back, a member sent me some very useful PC parts as a gesture of furry friendliness.

Patrick untied me and let me out of his basement after I promised to show him how to cook pizza.

Really though:

tyrion and Boomana both put me up in their own homes despite never having met me before when I came to Florida. An act of incredible generousity and trust.

A group of users, I do not know exactly how many because it was done in secret, got together to get me a pair of speakers. Amazing out-of-the-blue gesture.

There was another chap around this time last year did a thing most in keeping with his awesome nature for me. But I was asked not to say who, what or how.

Nice. I'd like to read more random acts of kindness.

Most recently I've been lucky enough for Johnwmclean look over the Jaycar SCHA that I soldered up last week and make sure it's safe, and he's hooking it up.

I also received a pair of 19J6 tubes from Digger945 free of charge!

And fred_fred2004 built me a Starving Student.

Head-Fi is great.

I would like to thank all the people who have helped me with suggestions for gear, and who have helped to troubleshoot my problems. I'd also like to thank mookowz1 who introduced me to head-fi and bought me my first good headphone, my DT770. The level of community on this forum is incredible, and the acts of kindness are equally incredible, so thanks head-fi!

big thanks to everyone, especially those who write such incredible reviews on this site, names that spring to mind but not exhaustive list (I have a terrible memory), ClieOS, HeadphoneAddict, Shizego, ljokerl..many more too.
I've received lots of help from here and gained lots of knowledge, big thumbs up to everyone. Special thanks to Mark2410, done quite a bit of trading with Mark in the last year and always had nothing but excellent and very fair trading..when royal fail took 2 weeks to get some IEM's to mark, he was very patient with me.

merry christmas everyone
