Lost link to a Dynalo amp? - Page 2

.................... so what? Keep looking and things are indeed different.

Is the Gilmore + psu better? Yes.
Can you buy that new? No.
What about used? Yes.
Does it cost more than this, used? Yes.

So yeah, compared to the std GLite, this has a better power delivery. Does that make it better? Possibly.

I'll also remind people that Sheer Audio offer a TWO year warranty.

^ I didn't mean to compare the SQ, I was just pointing out that the thing has internal PSU. That's all.

Sorry, didn't mean to come off all harsh

Looks like an awesome deal - Dynalo with LM317-based PSU, can't go wrong. Well, you could go overboard and build the original Dynalo PSU or something like a Sigma22, etc but this definitely looks great at the price. Hope the transformer doesn't put off enough EMI/RFI (I can never remember which one it is) to be audible.

This looks like a really great deal (though not for me, I already own 2 GL's). I wonder what its gain is.

I wish I had the money for this, but I pulled the trigger on a used Headfive a week or two ago and I'm more than satisfied :]

This might just be my next amp if I decide to stay the solid-state route and not take a dip into tube.

In the original thread that the sheer was posted i asked if it was reasonable to think that the sheer would sound similar to a gilmore lite. I think this quote has answered my question.

Its part of one of my office systems now.

Its very hard to compete with the labor costs associated with
building something like that outside the US.

I wish someone would pull the trigger on this.

I find it somewhat ironic that one of the only people on this forum who owns one is the person we were the most skeptical of having heard one xD

I think the problem is everyone's wallets are super hurt from end of year purchases T_T.

Much appreciated hebert

Hebert, have you received yours yet? How is it going?

The amp arrived last week, but apparently the shipping from Taipei City to Montreal did not go very smoothly as the box was pretty beaten up and the right channel wasn't working. I communicated with David, who's truly a gentleman, and we arranged a return. A new unit is on the way now or will be very soon.

BTW, Hebert is my last name, my first name is Guillaume (killer pronunciation effort for English-speaking people )
