Mike Patton - Page 2

I've wanted to see "I Am Legend" but haven't found time.

Occasionally I'll go back and listen to some older stuff, and I'm continually amazed how awesome all FNM albums are. Make sure to check out "Carry Stress in the Jaw" on Disco Volante if you want to hear some vocal range. That album is pretty intense on headphones (and, long ago, some substances I won't name). "California" is an entirely different sort of treat. I wouldn't really recommend his "Adult Themes for Voice". Pretty interesting to hear, but not something I'll go back to. Tomahawk is an easy recommendation if you like FNM. They were fantastic live when I saw them open for Tool. At one point he starting singing opera or something and just filled the arena. Very powerful voice, especially considering he'd be screaming and doing other stuff for half an hour at that point.

Anyone see him act in "Firecracker"? I didn't see the whole film, but he seemed pretty good. Second only to his amazing voice is his ability to look cool with a large variety of facial hair configurations.

Patton's albums with John Zorn are pretty raw/pretentious, but Six Litanies for Heliogabalus is good, and should give listeners a good idea of how much further they want to go into his art metal.

Has anyone heard the stuff he did with The Dillinger Escape Plan? Normally I don't really like that style of metal, but I think that the stuff they did with him was actually good. He certainly adds a very neurotic feel to the music.
