Which amp to build for use with HD650

Hi.

I'm going to get the Sennheiser HD650 very soon and I need an amplifier.
So I figured I wanted to build it myself, it seems very interesting. I'm just not sure about which one...

This will be my first DIY-project, so it shouldn't be too hard to build. At least, there should be enough information about the project so I don't get stuck. But I'm not afraid of challenges

I have been looking at the Millet amps. What is the difference between the MiniMax, the MAX and the Starving Student?

What other projects are there, that might be better for me/HD650's?
I really want to not spend any more than $200, if that is possible.

Thank you very much for helping me out

stay clear of high voltage tube amps if this is your first build. i'm only going to recommend what i've heard with the HD650 - the CK2III. sounds very, very good with the HD650, easy to build, and well under your budget.

I agree with fishski13. The CK2III was a good first project and sounds very good with my HD650s.

Take a look at the CTH also. It's been proven to drive pretty well any headphones very well. I'm using mine with a pair of HD580s and they sound very nice.

The CK2III is a good one to startwith and should fit your budget. Save some money by finding someold piece of electronics gear at a junk store, etc. that you
can gut and use its case for your build.

Thank you guys!

The CK2III seems interesting, I'm going to take a good look at that one. I ordered my HD650s yesterday actually, so I need to decide which amplifier I'm want to build.

pabbi1: Thanks, I can learn a lot from those websites! I will be ready for the quiz soon

Ck2III is great with the HD650..

The CTH is a really fine amp and definitely an upgrade over the CK2III, but not for an inexperienced builder.

Allright, I think I'm gonna go with the CK2III. Thank you guys!

I'll post a picture when the amp is done.

The amp is starting to come together now, almost done with the PCB soldering.

Seems good so far?

where can I inquire to get someone to build the CK2III?

Also how much does it roughly costs?

or simply keep an eye on the FS. Most of them are ~$200.
