Just got my D4 Holy Crap!

Right now I am sitting at my PC listening to my new D4 as I am typing this and grinning like a cheshire cat at the sound quality of this little thing which is just amazing. My measly Grado SR60i's have never sounded better. It's pretty cold and rainy today and the little D4 was freezing cold after unpacking. I didn't wast any time plugging it into my pc and the computer detected it right away and all I had to do was select it as the default sound device. Listening to to the Album Upojenie by Pat Metheny and Anna Maria Jopek with the volume @ 10 oclock on the low gain setting which is plenty loud. Everything is crystal clear, plenty of bass, can't wait to get my k701's next week. Just want to say thanks to the Forum members who recommended this little device. I couldn't be more pleased!

Welcome to Head-Fi, and happy to hear that you enjoy the D4.

very good news i gotta order one in the next couple weeks my soundcard and computer just doesnt sound good i need a good dac. Plus the 9v amp will really be enjoyable for portable use.

The D4 is indeed a great little dac/amp.

D4 looks great, congrats welcome to head fi.

congrats!! but as mentioned above, I wouldnt get the K701 to use with the D4 unless you are also getting a fullsize amp to drive them, K701 quite hard to drive and D4 or pretty much any portable will not supply enough current to get much any bass out of them, they will likely end up sounding bland

Lovin D4/SR225i and you gave me a good chuckle 'holy crap'.

Yes, exactly

Well, you had it cold. Now that it became hot after using it too much, the sound will now start to deteriorate.

Thanks Everyone, I do plan on getting a separate amp for the AKG's and will use the D4 as a DAC at that point.

The D4 is an sleeper both as a DAC and as an amp. Later once you have learned its sound signature you may wish to explore getting a TopKit from HiFlight.

Congratulations mate, I got mine a week or so ago, it just amazes me with its sound every day, I have it nicely packed up its leather case for portable use with my Sennheiser HD 25-1 II, can't wait to hear it with my Grado SR 325is which will probably arrive this week, they will stay home and that's when the D4 will come into play as a DA along with its brilliant amp.

I take this opportunity to thank Head-fi again,if it wasn't for you guys, I would not experience sonic bliss at its best.
