Music-wise, none. VIP accounts get some silly features that don't really matter.

The service is driven by people who upload content (the service violates all sorts of copyright laws...but somehow it's still up) and I'm unsure if Grooveshark then converts said files/re-encodes them...if they don't, you get whatever bitrate the song was uploaded at...which is probably 128kbps and up.

Lala is great at first. It's like Imeem used to be in that you could find full albums and play through them. Problem is that it only lets you listen to each song once, then forces you to "purchase" using song credits to listen to them more than once.

I still hate how Imeem got ruined just like that. It was a great site to listen to albums to see if they're worth a purchase because they had full songs, not just 30 second previews.

I'm not really sure of too many services that do what you want. Why do you want to be able to play a specific song anyway? Is it because your library is too big to take with you? If so, maybe you want to try to stream the music off your computer from home? I'm pretty sure there are a number of programs that there that will do that for you these days.

I feel a bit silly now, Pandora's paid option now DOES stream at 192kb/s - I'm not sure what format it is in, but that's pretty cool. It used to only be no-adds, I think. It's very cheap too, only $36/year. Just curious, anybody have any idea what format Pandora uses these days? Is it still MP3 or is it AAC now? Either way, it's a great option for those that are in the US don't mind paying a few bucks a month for such a great service.
