I put on Les Voix Humaines
, a collection of works played on centuries-old viols by Jordi Savall, while studying at a local café for a final exam. The Fuze/Tomahawk/RE0 combo is forming a beautiful synergy tonight.
Carl Friedrich Abel's "Pieces in D minor for bass viol solo Prelude in D" comes on. It is so beautiful, I can't help but put my notes down, close my eyes, turn up the volume, and just take it all in.
After a few seconds, as Savall begins to draw his bow ever more forcefully, yet gracefully across the strings, I see a light fill the darkness behind my eyelids.
The light quickly gets brighter, filling my covered eyes and making the music even more beautiful... until...
...the car that just pulled into the parking spot in front of the café turns off its headlights, which had just been shining onto my closed eyes.
More of a plug for this amazing CD and these amazing headphones than anything else. Cheers.
