The amp they come with is very poor. It'd be like Sennheiser bundling a boosteroo with the hd800.

The Koss sound pretty good from a Stax amp. Easily keep up with a Lambda. I've not had extended time with them though.

The one and only time I have heard the ESP-950 I thought they sounded remarkably good, actually.

I looked at the list in the FP again and thought I'd lost my marbles when I saw $1699 next to the entry for ATH-W5000. That's MSRP, yes? Maybe another column with the "street price" would be worthwhile for the rest of us, heh heh.
