Shure E4 Vs TF10 - Page 2

i did the reverse as you, the shure E4 ent back and i ate the restocking fee - and i stuck with the triple.fi's and it was an easy choice.

at the most basic level i can say the e4 sounded like it was jamming the music into my ear while the tf10 kind of sat back and pushed it in my ear. e4 mids were so forward and bass a bit anemic that it felt thin and the music shoved in not delivered properly. the tf10 with what people call recessed mids has a nice soundstage for an IEM.

haha. I started this thread mentioning that I absolutely love the E4's and now all this comparative talk about the E4 against the TF10 is making me realize its shortcomings. I find that a little ironic...I don't even have the TF10's and I already think they are better.

Man thats why I love this forum! Always something better out there.

Good for you, taking other peoples opinions on something completely subjective and using it as empirical evidence of a personal truth!

??? Seven, eight years ago E4 was a great single driver. One of Shures top 2 offerings (E5 being the other). But fast forward to now, these two are not even in the same league. E4 competes with Super Fi 3. SE530 competes with TFP 10 Pro.

There is very little subjective about how TFP10 Pro mops the floor with E4. Like comparing a Honda Civic to an Acura TL. Both great but one clearly better.

If the Shure E4C/SCL4 is a Honda Civic and the TFP10 is an Acura TL, then Sennheiser IE8s must be a Ferrari F430. Considering I've heard all three, I can say that the Sennheiser IE8s mop the floor with both the Shure's and the TFP10.

Although I really did enjoy the Shure SCL4's for the one year that I had them, I had no idea what I was missing until I purchased the Sennheisers. Truly remarkable--gets all of the details in there without any distortion or loss of clarity--with impact and realism which I fear the Shure's and the TFP10 lack.

There is just a realistic tone in a female's voice when she breathes before singing, or a satisfying bass impact in any song which I felt both the Shure's the TFP10 did not perform remotely as well as the Sennheiser IE8s.

Nevertheless, all three are great IEMs and I have enjoyed all three for the time that I've utilized them.
