Maybe at some future date.  I would like to audition them before making the purchase, though, since my income has diminished significantly between jobs  

To me, the T1 were over-priced in proportion to what they delivered; a fine pair of cans, but over-priced nonetheless, IMHO.  The DT880/600 exceeded expectations, whereas the T1 failed to meet them for me.

The midrange on the T1 is absolutely magic my friend. The mids are so clear, fluid, detailed and nuanced with exceptional texturing. Really I think the mids are better than the HD800's.

IMO it will dust the whole DT770-DT990 line. The T1 reminds me of the DT880 in a way, but really beefed up! Not saying it sound close to the DT880, but has a overall similar sound.

I have owned the HD800 and found them very comfy - except that they are very huge and will put some pressure on places rather far away from your head (e.g jaw and chinbone). Sold them and got the T1 instead because the HD800 turned out to be painfully bright for me in the long run.

First, I found the T1 rather less comfy then the HD800 - but after a week the pads sems to have softened up and I have sorted out how place them on my head (you know - the tiny small adjustment that you just make)

I now find the T1 MORE comfortable than the HD800. 

Also I like the design. It is more discrete and definitely seems more solid, it feels like it could survive a drop to the floor. I prefer the sound as well. T1 can still be bright in my ears, but less so than the HD800. I find it better for low volumes than the HD800. 

hey thanks guys it sounds like the t1 is  better all around.  and sounding good at low volume means only one thing to me, quality.

Agree with above -- the HD800 put too much pressure on my jawbone to be comfortable for long, despite my enjoyment of the sound. The T1 is a better fit for my modest melon. Both sound excellent; the T1 is less "hifi" to me ears and therefore less immediately impressive, but I'd say they're about the same in absolute Q over the long haul -- and comfort is the deal-breaker for me.
