You got the first part right, different fons = different characteristics or sound signatures (individual perception and preference). What do you base the rest of your post on? Have you heard
all of the above or even
any of the above? This is not a flame, but why would anyone comment and even try and rank headphones he has never heard before? This is one of the inherent problems with Headfi, people making definitive comments about headphones they have absolutely no first hand knowledge of.
It is fine to have an opinion, obviously subjective opinion regarding how headphones sound is all anyone can really offer, but that opinion should have some basis to be founded upon. It is also okay to base some/part of your opinion on what you may have absorbed through reading various other peoples' opinions, but to rank/qualify six or seven headphones serves litttle or no positive purpose unlesss you have actually heard them and have a
valid opinion.
I love the sound of my ED8s and can thoughly recommend them as a great (closed) headphone, but I offer no opinion against any of the other top tier closed headphones as I have no basis/experience with any of them to comment, so I don't.
