What to do with old iPod?

Thread Starter
I currently have a zune HD that I use at work and in my car that I love. What it replaced was a iPod (I forget what generation its the classic just before they called them classics.) And it does not play out the headphone jack. Works fine otherwise.

Just kinda wondering what I could do with it. Its not big enough for back up (30gb), I sometimes do use it as a usb drive. But wondering if there is something cool I could do with it.

Thanks!

Give it to me.

You could always sell it.

Or use a LOD.

Why not fix the headphone jack and rockbox it.

It is rockboxed already. Im not very good with a soldering Iron I have found and am afraid to fix it.

What is a LOD?
Edit: i found out. Line out dock. I have seen people make custom LOD to Rca or TRS connectors, where can you buy the LOD connector? Or do you use a iPod one?
Edit:2 my first edit was too slow.

Line Out Dock (LOD) cable for accessing line out signal from iPod via 30 pin dock connector. like this ---> iBasso CB03 Line Out Dock Cable for iPod, iTouch & iPhone in Black HiFi Headphones it's used to connect to portable amp, instead of using the headphone out jack.

Grab a Fiio E1 for about $30, and then give it away.

or, depending on what year you bought it, if you could find that out, you could get it imodded by RWA and have a sick portable.

If you replace the headphone jack with a new one off ebay ($3.50 shipped), you won't do any soldering. Just open it up, swap it out, and close it up.

Put it in a Bose idock and use it for a bath/bed/garage/exercise room player.

you can just sell it on HF

Use it with an external amplifier, since that allows you to use the working dock connector.
...or just sell it.

Check ebay. Check the prices for iPod headphone jacks on ebay too, and look up a tutorial on how to replace it.
