Need Help Picking A New Player

Well, I'm looking to buy a new MP3 player either before or after the holidays, and I'm not quite sure what direction to look. I'd like a touch screen player (capacitive), but another side of me wants physical buttons for snowboarding. That said, it has to be durable. I would also like the ability to have custom UI's (S9 and P3 ring a bell). Wifi is also a feature I wouldn't mind to have. Above all, I'd like the sound quality to be good, but doesn't have to be anything amazing, as I'm just using Sennhieser CX400's and don't really plan on buying any IEM's any time soon, unless these fall apart. Thanks for reading this and providing any input to my situation.

No experience listening to either but from what gather from reading this forum, the sony x1000 series seems really popular for its sound quality.Comes with a touch screen, wi-fi(though not highly regarded due to poor browser), decent stock earphones.
If this doesn't work for you, there's always the Ipod Touch.

If you are using it for snowboarding and want it to be durable... I would suggest something cheap. Don't go for touchscreens as if you break or freeze it, that is a lot of money down the drain. The Sansa fuze and clip are inexpensive and sound very good. But for simplicity and good sound quality, the iPod shuffle 1G is probably the best bang (meaning you can bang it around) for the buck.

Although those options will work, I forgot to clarify that I'm looking for something at the 16gb mark or above. Any ideas at that size? Is there a way to have the Clip+ get up to that capacity? If so, how much would it add to the total price. I am also going to be using this player for standard, everyday listening.

you can get a clip+ to 24 GB by adding a 16gb SD card. You can look up the price, its not that hard. You should only be spoon fed for so long.

No need for the attitude. I was just curious if anyone knew off hand how much it would cost to get the size up.

Back on topic, a Clip+ w/ an SD card, do the libraries merge, or are there 2 separate libraries for the music on the card and on the player, as it is in the Creative Zen?

Yes the files merge and the sound quality is great, only thing that's not usefull on them is the EQ, but aside from that it's a great player.

Sony X should be the correct option based on your criterion. Plus it has a big price discounted now.
