Here is Brad Johnson of Charleston North Carolina hosting the first Official Head-Fi Anonymous Meet on 12-10-2009. The meeting started off with a prayer stating that Head-Fi members had no control over a type of manic compulsive tendency to acquire as many forms of headphones and audio equipment they could get. This was a prayer for guidance to the disorder and many stated that affirmation of this complete loss of willpower was the first key to recovery.
At the meet many pots of coffee were consumed along with passionate testimony relating to big credit card purchases. There was even a story of one individual selling and buying a single brand and model of headphone amp over and over to complete disarray of his friends and family. At one point an intervention was planned and carried out with the help of this individuals close friends and family. Many various types of audio equipment were confiscated then resold on E-Bay to try and balance the term-oiled family financial budget.
All and all it was a great meet with many folks who were just visiting who started standing up and proclaiming their uncontrolled affinity for spending on audio products, later becoming disenlightened, found walking the streets looking for more at odd hours of the morning.
As a group they said they share the hope that one day they can go back to their 1989 Walk-mans and lead a normal life like so many happy Americans do.
