I need some advice, o wise and knowledgeable Headfiers.
I have a pair of Alessandro MS Pro's. I've had them for 5 or so years now, using a C-pad like mod I made myself (wasn't happy with headphile's)
I love these cans to bits, but two problems have recently emerged.
The first is a rattle in the left driver, made most prominent by bass activity. I can also hear it just by tapping the shell lightly while on my head. If I tilt my head near horizontal to the left side, the rattle goes away.
What is this? Is the driver damaged? Its almost as though the voice coil is *just* rubbing the magnet cavity or something. I understand this something grado's are prone to - what can I do to fix it?
Problem 2: The stock cable is dying at the plug; unless I fold it back on itself and rubber band it, I lose all signal to the right driver.
Can anyone give me some advice on recabling? Is it a nightmare with these cans? I know I could chop the cable back an inch and solder a new connector on, but I'm curious about a whole recable as well.
