Time for a second pair of cans, help me out guys!

I'm looking for a new pair of cans. My AKG K81DJ's broke withen two months of using them. IDR if i had a warranty or not, but I guess I threw away all the packaging because I can't seem to find it. I guess I need some headphones with maybe a replacable cord, because its always the cord that seems to break on me... I listen to like 70% Hip Hop(So a thumping Bass is important) and the rest is stuff like Indie rock and New wave. So it can't lack in treble and other areas. No more then 200 Dollars.

Also, any cheap(No more then like 50-60) earphones you guys reccomend? They also have to come with a warranty or something because I seem to be the headphone killer(I've never had a pair thats lasted more then 3-6 months. I'm not the most careful person in the world, but it's not like I'm extremly careless when handling headphones.)

Thanks my friends.

Im actually kinda in the same boat as you (Broke my igrados). Although my listening preferences are a bit different the AKG 181DJ (higher up version of your model and err quite a bit bigger) seems to be fairly well regarded. It does have a replaceable chord if thats the thing that keeps breaking on you.

Ive also been taking a look at the Sennheiser HD25-1 II.

I have not listened to either of these cans before but they both seem to be higher up in SQ than the K81 and should definitely last you longer.

Hmm... the AKG 181DJ's sound good. Has anybody here used them? Reccomend anything else?

Not much out there in your price range - ever thought of Grado - say a used SR 60?

for the budget there is the JBL Ref 410, they are the JBL version of on of the closed portable AKG's. Do a google for the JBL model number along with AKG to get the details. If you live in Canada, Walmart is selling these up hear for $30 which is an absolute steal as theynormally sell online for more than double that price, one of the better deals for Canadians. BTW this can is supposed to have alot of bass and the treble is supposed to get better as the cans burnin over time.

I agree. Maybe you could try the sound of Grado SR60.

Take a look at the Shure SRH line. Cables are replaceable and a good warranty. I really like my 440s for "all music" listening.

I'm confused. But, I'll recommend something for the <200$ level.
HD25-1 have: removable cable, great build you can feel confident in, 1 year warranty if you buy from an authorized dealer, or someone who bought it from an authorized dealer. Can be had new for ~160$.

I've heard great things, mostly from Acix, about the GMP 8.35 as being unbreakable, and very nice sounding.

Check out these options; in terms of durability in the face of abuse, I doubt you'll find too many options better than these.

Unrelated note: another company with amazing warranty is Koss, but it doesn't sound like you want PortaPros or KSC75s.
