I like my DT-880 250 Ohm better with tube amp. Sound too cold with SS for my tast.

ditto. Something like an ASL OTL does well with them......I'd suggest Amperex EL84, and Sylvania Gold 5751 NOS tubes for them.........yeah, I had dt880/250 2003, then dt880/600 2005.

How would you sum up the differences between the 250 and 600 ohm versions driven from the same electronics? Just acquired the 250 ohm version in a trade so did not have a choice.
Thanks for any feedback. smily_headphones1.gif

The 600 ohm version is more refined with better controlled bass and less sizzling treble.  Both are great cans, though.  I had the 250 ohm version for some time and I found them to have a pretty flat response until the upper frequencies.  Both have slightly recessed midranges, with the 250 ohm being slightly more recessed.  Both are not as recessed as the 990s, though.
