I have some OP fleece gloves for $35, they are comfortable and delicate enough for you fingers to be able to pull a cigarette out from the box with ease, but they struggle to keep my fingers warm in 45F (yes I wear gloves in that temperature b/c thats cold for Yuma)

Isotoners have always served me well in terms of warmth and functionality, and should be especially good for a place that doesn't have snow. They can look a little serial-killer-ish, though...

I decided to see what a name brand glove is like, so i bought myself a pair of The North Face Pamir Gloves featuring a windstopper shell. The windstopper works fine, and the stitching quality is good. What is not good is the silicone cover on the palm side near the thumb. After a season, there's already a hole in it - and to be honest, i really only ride the bike with them (rubber handlebars).
Otherwise they are great, and it's unbearably cold to bike with anything else that doesn't have a windstopper shell inside.
