fiio portable speakers

I'm not sure if this is the place to put this thread, but I thought this is the most accurate category. I'm looking for a portable speaker to use when I go camping or have outdoor bbqs. My question is regarding Fiio portable speakers since the price is low and their portable headphone amps are quite nice for its price. I've looked at the Fiio PS1110, S3, S5, S9 and am confused. Has anyone had any experience with these speakers?

I don't think to choose a low end portable speaker will bring you music enjoyment. it is a sound toy.

In fact some MP3 player has buit in speaker, It's sound quality will be similar to some low end portable speaker. While you can get the decent sound quality with the earphones.

Your comments bring me to assume that you've actually heard the speakers in question... personally.

Is this true?

If not, please make this clear.

agree with TopPop,

and i am sure that u never heard Fiio portable speaker because u said it just a same level with built in speaker of mp3 player, which is wrong, they are very different level of sound quality, i already heard Fiio S3 and owned many mp3 player with speaker (Samsung S5, Samsung P3, Archos, advance mp3 player, Ipod touch 2nd Gen, Samsung M1, Cowon Motz Arcorn, etc)

my friend have 5 all of them; S1(PS1110), S3, S5, S7(not portable), and S9
and he recommended me :
- For bass, get S9
- For vocal, get S3
- for all-around music, get S5

My Fiio PS1110 just shipped (after ordering it 3 months ago..). I'll post results when I get it.

i owned S1(PS1110), the sound quality is bad, power output is very small, far behind its older brother, plus need other source/player (S3 support memory card and can play directly from card)
i do not recommend S1.

I'm mainly going to be using it for outdoor...when I go camping or have bbqs. Because the S9 has the most bass, would it make the sound carry a bit better in such an open environment? Would that make it a good choice?

a_tumiwa: If you could redo it, would you have bought a different model?

yes, i think i would choose S3 (because of its size, price, and sound) , even though S3 has some disadvantages like battery life(spec said 8 hours, but from my experience it was below 6 hours), sometimes failed to startup (my friend said re-instert mc will solve it).

a_tumiwa: why would you pick the S3 over the S5 or S9? The S5 is around 12 USD more and the S9 is around 4USD more.
