replacing my super.fi 5 pros

I use the S4 mostly at work, which makes up about 90% of their use. The other 10% is gym use. While at work I use my iBasso D2 as a DAC and amp, so it's not an issue for me to amp them. I used to use the iBasso at work to power a set of DT770s, but I got tired of lugging those into work every day, hence the search for IEMs. I compared the Shure SE115, Super.fi 4, and S4. Super.fi 4 sounds the most detailed, but rather boring sounding. SE115s were just junk, and the S4s are the most exciting. Congested at times, yes....but exciting 100% of the time. They certainly aren't critical listening phones, but good for on-the-go applications, and situations were excitement is needed (work and gym).

I can't argue the amping helps, with that said, If I'm gonna bother with an amp, I'm not using the s4's. The gym part is true. But I just shove some shure's deep in my ears, and grunt on. There are many that love the s4, I can't get past that congestion. (Jaded Ears)

I just replaced my Super Fi 5 Pro's with UE 700's and I'm not sorry in the least. The sound is essentially the same but the comfort level of the 700's is far above the Super Fi 5 Pros... They were on sale at Logitech and Amazon for $149 about a week or so ago. Not sure what Amazon is currently charging.
Good luck!

Wow thanks for the tip... I didnt even consider the 700. It looks really nice and very comfortable, but its a bit out of my price range. I think I might just got with the RE0 for the price... no one has said anything bad about them, and they have VERY positive reviews. I am a little concerned about comfort and isolation from them though...

Have you considered the RE0? I too have a super.fi5, and when I read all the good stuff about the RE0, I couldn't help but be impressed. Some people said that they hold up to even Shure's SE500! Plus they are just $80, so I reckon that they would be in your price range..

That said, I am intrigued how a $80 IEM is able to hold up to a $300 IEM. Either the RE0 are grossly under priced or else the SE500 are grossly over priced!

I have both the re0(80USD) and the triple fi 10(100USD). Honestly, I prefer to listen to the clarity and the details from the re0. After listening to the re0 for a while, i found that the triplefi to be little muddy. Anyway, I am going to buy some shure olives for the re0 because I heard that the sound will improve even more. I highly recommend the re0!

For the money buy the S4. I have had mine for a week or so, love them. Only 50 hours burn in, about 10 hours listening total. Good bass, good mids, ok highs with some sibilance. I can hear all the gaps where the cans don't like to hit, but for 80 bucks what do you expect? For the money I doubt you can beat them. If you make a trip to south bay (san jose) feel free to hit me up. I have them hooked to a sansa clip+ with plenty of trance some rock and some hip hop loaded on. They are quite nice, really.

can anyone compare the isolation of the re0s compared with the isolation from the superfi/triplefi body style?
