Simple rule. Only head-fiers who haven´t upgraded in at least 6 months may apply what component ended it all. Dedicated anonyme audioholics that have a history of upgraditis.

Don't be silly. That just means you have more money for gear.

She took all my money. And my pants.

Speakers ended my slippery slope of headphones.

Once I got my hands on a pair of HD650's, my thirst for new gear was indefinitely quenched.

Suppose that would be the "System" in my signature; And my budgetary foray into 1080p Home Theater system with an 8 foot wide retro-reflective 2.8 high gain screen projected image from a 3LCD HD1080p projector by Viewsonic

It's like reaching Nirvana. There exists no such thing to stop this addiction other than perhaps, extreme sickness, coma, or death. I almost forgot taxes.

RWA Signature 30.2, paired with the K1000.
The slope is still there, but not quite as slippery...

In the headphone world, Senn 600's - they sounded good, but yet did not quite measure up to my Stax. Result: Contentment. Kept Stax. Sold Senns.

In the speaker world, Phase Linear 2000 preamp - it brought an unexpected synergy to my whole system, so no further upgrades are needed. Result: Contentment, and for $40 too.

I haven't been so lucky.

Probably a combination of going to a big meet and getting a K240DF. Going to a meet and listening to a ton of stuff (from $50 to $20K+) helped me realize that once you have a headphone you really like (in my case the Denon headphones) there isn't much to be gained beyond that. Mostly you are playing games with yourself.

The K240DF also made me realize what a stagnant industry audio is. The K240DF is quite old and it wasn't a "$1000 flagship" when it was sold. Newer headphones have different sound signatures, but they don't have any extra magic.

I did get a Audeo PFE recently. It wasn't upgradeitis, just something for travel. Listening to it I've had a similar experience to the 240DF. It's just a reminder that you can get a lot of sound for not so much money.
