Hello,
I am in market for a new headphones, from my research i narrowed my choice to: ultrasone HFI 780 (not very comfortable), denon d2000 (from what i understood, bass isnt so intense) and my main candidate - beyerdynamic dt770.
I'll be using them on PC, sound card asus xonar essence stx. When it comes to usage, i mostly listen to hip-hop, rock/metal and electronic music. From what i read, dt770 have pretty strong bass, but not too overhelming. Other than music, i'll watch fair amount of movies and play a lots of games (mostly FPS/MMO). One thing that i thought about is, isnt the bass too strong for movies - like in some action scenes, doesnt it overlap voices or something? Would you recommend this headphones for movies with ac3/dts sound?
Another question regarding dt770s - will i need external AMP? Or my soundcard build-in amp feature will do? It has 2 levels of build in amp:
High gain (+16dB for 64~300ohm)
Extra high gain (+18dB for 300~600ohm)
PS: My current headphones are Koss SB 40. Do you think i'll notice big increase in terms of quality?
Sorry about multiple questions, i am kind of newbie when it comes to audio equpment. Just until this year, i been using refference sound card from the motherboard :P.
