Your view/verdict on MB Dr DRE IEM's

I have been in the hun for almost 1 yr now or close to get a good pair of IEM's and to add to my headphone collection. I had never heard of Monster Beats/Dr Dre headphones/IEM's before till recently. What I also like about them is their untangle headphone cord (red one) and also I do find them to look quite stylish.

I was previously also looking at Shure and UE but these just cuaght my eye.

The ones I am looking at are the Monster Beats Dr DRE IEM's

Yes their the ones.

I can get the from Ebay Australia (new and genuine) + free shipping for AU$95 which is a good deal, seriously considering it

I forgot to add, the ones I am looking at are called "Tour", they have this written on the box.

I would suggest you look around a bit, even at ~$90 USD these would not tempt me. You can get Head-Direct RE0s for that price, which will kick these around.

The Head Direct RE1 (yes thats RE1) sell for AU$189.00 so thats much more than the Monster Beats at AU$95.00.

Also with the RE1's you need amplification and their a Impedance is a whooopiiinggg 150 Ohms, cant really understand why the heck would IEM's need 150 Ohms to drive them when you see this sort of stuff in much bigger headphones.

I also had my heart set on a pair of UE's Super Fi 4 for quite some time now and not sure what their SQ is like.

Contrary to popular belief, these aren't just reshelled Turbines. I personally like the Turbine better between the two Monster 'phones, my biggest gripe with the Beats being that they sound a bit too "congested". Separation between instruments isn't too great, overall soundstaging could be better. Contrary to the back of their box, their resolution isn't exactly the greatest.

They do have decent bass quality and quantity though, and they may not as boomy as you'd think expect to be. Can you get 'em for cheap? If you can, sure, go for it. Their non-tangle cables work quite well, and the red/black color scheme looks pretty flashy.

What IEMs do you currently own, and what are some alternatives to the Beats you're currently looking at?

Head Direct RE0 and RE1 are lite on bass when comparing to any Dr. Dre (boomy, or not). If you want people stop you and ask about your earphones, Dr. Dre it is. Despite the Monster Cable brand name, I'll buy it at $100. Many fake ones out there, please do buy it from reputable retailers.

Whoa... I had no idea. Those pics made me second guess mine... hell, I still AM second guessing mine right now. Aside from SQ, are there any definitive differences between the fakes and genuine articles?

Dunno where you're getting that quote from, but they're ripping you off hard. You can get RE0s delivered worldwide from Head-Direct.com for $90 USD.

The Beats tours are different to the TB. They don't sound as good for a wide range of music, preferring a 'wall of sound' to more balanced approach of the TB which as subtleties as well.

I am selling mine which are genuine!

Hi, sorry for the late reply, so busy with work. Ok re IEM's I have never owned any IEMs at all and have always been a over head headphone person more so than IEM's, infact I dont even like buds, their a total waste of time to me and will never own a pair. I slowly (but not 100%) got interested in IEm's and they sit better in your ears and 2nd their more professional to me than buds are, but again to me ovehead or headphones are the best, thats just my own personal opinion.

I already have 3x Headphones and thought why not add an IEM to the collection, but something good too.

The IEMs that I have been interested in or considering were:

1. UE SuperFi 4
2. UE Super Fi 3 Studio
3.Shure SCL2
4. Shure SCL 3
5.Monster beats (the ones I mentioned in this post)

Big names don't pull as much weight in the world of IEMs, especially in the pricerange you're dealing with.
