Picked up an Iriver P7....

£129 from Amp3, i already have a 1st gen touch and a Sansa Clip and my wife has become addicted to Bejeweled on the touch so i needed a replacement for my bus journey.
I went to the store in Edinburgh with the intension of buying a S9, i spent half an hour playingf around and listening to various players and the P7 appealled to me most.
The 4.3" screen is really nice, its no amoled but looks great with the AVIs i watch, i have tested it with RMVB, AVI , MP4 etc and the only codec it isnt perfect with is H264 , on some it has audio sync issues, no big deal though as i generally watch xvids.
The S9 left me cold, weird as i loved my X5 and D2 when i had them but the screen seemed just too small for watching vids (3.5" is the minimum for me i reckon).
Sound quality on the P7 is really good, better than my touch and on a par with the clip, it uses a wolfson wm8988 DAC and a rockchip RK2708 for video duties and they perform very well.
Battery is VERY good, lasted 5 days watching a 45 min show to and from work, my touch dies by wednesday!
The UI is easy to use, kinetic scrolling would be nice on big lists but as it is it is easy enough to use.
The radio has good reception and the photos can be flicked through with the finger swipe, bit slower than touch but the photos are full size where the ones on the touch are resized.
It has a wee speaker but it is too quiet to be useful.

Overall i like it , a solid 7.5/10

PS - it looks really big in this photo, its an illusion!

Very cool, yeah an AMOLED that size would be absolutely beautiful .

Iriver fan from way back, glad to see they can still output something decent.

Thanks for posting!
