Nerd123, I think its time for you to buy the AKG K701.
Go for it. Experience is the best teacher.
Hear it for yourself so your doubts about the sound will be cleared.
We all have different ears.

And when your unsatisfied, don't worry, headphone amplifiers are out there waiting for your upgrade. And this will be the start I think of your journey to the audiophile world.

besided you can always get an amp in the future,so it's always good to have a pair of headphones that have a lot of potential.

I look forward to that, if only so that it might serve as a warning to others. That said, if you keep telling yourself that a 68 Camaro with a 4-cylinder engine sounds 'wicked' when you go cruisin for chicks, chances are that it will indeed sound 'wicked'. Pop the hood and people will laugh.
