Most effective noise isolating earphones?

Hi All

I work in a very noisy office with loud music playing. Normally I work with headphones on so I can listen to (usually classical) music. That way I can concentrate. However, with my cheapo Sony MDR –V150s, all I get is a combination of what I’m listening too and whatever is on in the office. Let me tell you Mozart and Lady Gaga is not a good mix.

So my question is, which noise isolating earphones block out most ambient sound? Shure? Etymiotics? I was thinking of spending around $150. If I can’t solve this problem I may have to find another job. It’s driving me mad. Sound quality is not as important as blocking out as much background noise as possible.

Thanks so much for your help!

Etymotic ER-4Ps, but to be honest most IEMs should do the trick.

etymotic hands down and this makes a huge difference in noisy environments...i find it very distracting to hear all kinds of noise around me as i listen to music...the etymotics can almost drown out any outside noise and to me that makes them a fantastic IEM...oh and they sound damn good as well!

Creative EP-630 is enough noise isolated. But it now seems to be obsolete.

Any of the Etymotic ER4 series, either with the stock tri-flanges or Shure Olive foam tips. Stellar isolation - up to 42 dB according to Etymotic.

+1 for the ER4. You can't hear someone talking when they're right in front of you even if your PMP is OFF!

Speaking from personal experience, it's a little dangerous to wear them outside.

+1 for ety's. I have screamed at people numerous times with them on because I had no idea how loud I was talking.
