I'd like to thank my family, Sony Corporation, my lovely wife, Sony Corporation, my fellow Head-Fiers and, oh, Roger from Sony Corporation. Goodnight and God Bless Sony Corporation.

Where is the hifiman?

For overall SQ from all models, it'll be Sony.
However there are select models from others, such as the Sansa Fuze, which beats some Sonys etc...

Cowon D2 was too much of a FOTM tbh. Bass rolloff = very not cool + sounded too digital tbh.

How about iPod touch 2g?it is one of theist neutral players o have ever heard, that's why I voted for apple although I don't like it.

or we could call the poll "all the players I've owned in a subjective order". Seriously, the poll addresses an interesting question. Are there any objective methods to address this?

Once you're past junk gear with obvious distortion, poor SNR, and uneven freq resp, then SQ is subjective. Very very personal. There is a lot to be learned from the aggregate opinions of members -- when there is consensus, and when there is divergence of views.

Much more interesting than a "pick one" poll.

We should welcome the views of all, and call no one a fan boy, unless you have evidence to the contrary.

The opinions of listeners who take listening seriously, who keep notes, who have read up on how to listen (there are books on this in case you don't know) ... that's what it's all about once you get past the spec sheets.

Could you go so far as to compare its output to some of the amps talked about here? It could give me a much more compact solution.

I'm guessing it's no ALO Rx or whatever is popular right but it's got to be better than some of the CMoys.

Very well said. Nobody should have been allowed, who have not owned or tried for 2 hours at least 4 brands in that list, to vote at all.

I didn't vote.

cant we choose which one has the best freq response, SNR, distortion, etc? =)

I did not see Audiovox on the list?

Apple players could potentially have better sound quality if they spend more on amplifiers and less on size-factor development.

For me, Cowon and Sandisk have never let me down.

Sure, read the spec sheets. They are all one the web. No need to poll anyone.

Will bear very little relation to SQ as experienced by the listener, but would be interesting to see a comparison matrix, no doubt.
