Problems putting apple lossless files on my ipod

So I just recently updated to iTunes 9.2 and I've become very frustrated. I usually convert my flac files to alac and then put them on my iPod Classic. After this update however it won't take alac, it'll take just about anything else but when I drag alac over nothing happens. No error no nothing. So I'm wondering if anyone knows a solution to this problem or a workaround. Any other programs I can use to put music on my iPod? Or any other solutions you can think of?

you can also use mediamonkey to sync your ipod

You can also RockBox it, which will play all files formats.

A couple of questions:
* How do you transcode the files from FLAC to ALAC?
* Regular 16-bit/44.1kHz audio files (CD audio)?
* Which play back just fine in iTunes itself?

Good to know, I'll try that. But I'm guessing iTunes isn't the problem because I tried using Songbird to put my alac songs on my ipod and I had the same problem.

I'm definitely considering that at this point. Do you know if installing Rockbox will get rid of all of my music?

1. I use XLD, its a mac program.
2. Yes I believe so.
3. Yea, if i put the songs into my iTunes (not on the ipod) they play just fine.

It won't. The Rockbox firmware is in parallel with the iPod firmware, where you can switch between the two. Rockbox will play current iTunes playlists. You can still use iTunes to sync as well and use Rockbox to play them.

Well I just tried to install rockbox and apparently my 6th generation iPod classic isn't supported. Ergh, just when I finally need rockbox I find out I can't install it.

That might change soon. RockBox is constantly finding out ways to make the firmware compatible.

I thought rockbox on the classic or any newer ipod was very unlikely?

have you reset your iPod? updated firmware?
I used my 6th generation iPod Classic with my MacBook, only Apple Losseless and have no problems doing it.

The firmware could be corrupt as well. You can always wipe it and reinstall it and see if it works.

Use dBPoweramp to convert flac to ALAC and then drag it to your iPod in Devices in iTunes. It works like a charm.
