i just compared my stock d 7000 to the stock dx 1000, and guess what i preferred the denon, more punch warm and thick left dx 1000 souniding thin while giving it better seperation
even the high slightly go to the denon,, but im convinced that smaller earpads would make the dx1000 have more punch

so how did the edition 8 compare to the denon again bass and punch wise

were the highs too much for the edition 8,,,,,, it would suck to try and outdo my denon once again with some more expensive can ,, only to find out that i once again prefer the denon 7000,,
the only modding 700 needs imo , is the crappy cable that twists

Now a new pair of D7000 roundly $900-1000 as far as cnet stated.

A modded pair (La 2000 lite) of D2000, costs $769-839. The modded pair is a d2000 with a stock D7000 cable, Original markl mod and custom wood cups. Now i have not heard the D7000, but from markl, he claims that the modded pair should be some of best headphones around.

Anyway, just my 2 cent.
ive read alot of peopl dont like some of the mods,, because they take away bass punch and make them brighter, but that just some of what ive read

theres no way the stock 5000 and 7000 sound the same from what ive also read
