Well, not really an upgrade, I just want to know what other CDPs I can "swap" to.
Actually, I don't want to upgrade or change CDP, I bought my EVO about half a year ago and love every minute with it;
However 2 months ago I broke the CD tray due to my clumsiness (lol) but that was then professional repaired by Creek, right now I'm in the position of waiting to sell it and buy a better (even better?) player, sub-£500 player I'd say.
I don't know why I want to do this as I still like the sound from it, maybe because it has been repaired and I want something new...I don't know.
I did some research about the similar price range CD player, I find out the following:
Arcam CD192
Rega Apollo
Linn (forgot the models...lol, they all look very similar I don't know how to grade them)
Roksan Caspian
I am sure there are a lot others what I could choose from, however I just don't have the chance to audition all of them
All I want to know is, what other machines out there are suitable for me and how do they sound?
I listen to pop (oh yes lol), rock, R'n'B, jazz and some other stuff, classical isn't my concern, I tend to like bassy stuff but that doesn't mean I don't care about highs and mids, the Creek really suit me well but I just want to know, would any other CDPs suit me even better
I'm not good describing how something sound but the Creek sounds quite balance to me, but tends to be the bright side, very little tho. It's certainly not laid back (good 'cause when it comes to amp I have more choices), but really..I am not good at describing sounds, lol.
I really want to have a go at the Arcam CD192 and the Rege Apollo, but I just don't know. Some said the Apollo isn't good for those music, but I tired a Rega before with Alicia Key's....I just love it! But Alicia Keys isn't all I listen to lol, haha.
Thanks a lot!
