Just wondering if anyone has any idea if there were any changes in sound quality between these two generations?

Interesting, I can't find an answer ANYWHERE on the web.

I thought the only difference between them were storage capacity wise. But that the rest, hardware and software wise, is identical.
* 5G available in 30GB and 60GB.
* 5.5G available in 30GB and 80GB.

I may be wrong though.

in addition to storage, screen brightness and i think software, or certain aspects of it at least are different

I don't think there is anything that can impact upon sq differences positively or negatively between the 5 and 5,5 though.

The only difference between 5g ipod and 5.5g ipod is the screen.
5g ipod's screen uses more battery as compared to 5.5g ipod.
I forgot the model name for the screen thou
Interiors are the same.

SQ are the same.

Thanks for your answers everyone. I couldn't find that any changes were made to the audio section of the 5.0 to 5.5 transition as you all suggest. I bought a 5.0 based on this information. Really only cared about audio quality, not the screen. 60gig model for $70 with a faulty headphone jack (I found out, grrrrr) but I even let that slide since Im going to use it for lossless playbacking into my home system via an LOD only.
