^^^ interesting..i think Nikongod had some succes making such interconnects with the magnet wire or some such . He had them at canjam..time to pursue it perhaps now

Haha, I was kidding / referring to some guy on these forums a while back that butchered a number of $5-20k cables to test on his K1000 or something.

That would be Pat

Concerning the two cable designs posted, the Jon Risch one has one clear advantage in being properly shielded. Wether this will make any difference in your set-up is another issue.
Oh, and that cotton cable dressed up in a nice soft cotton tube instead of that awful plastic, would at least feel nice.

Does someone make a surface mount rca connector? its not quite as good as running the interconnect straight to the circuit board but it eliminates the wiring from the board to the rca connector which is usually the weakest point in the chain imo.

i've done this with capped docks before and felt it was worthwhile, was planning on doing it to my D10 actually in the next couple of days. strain relief is a big issue that must not be overlooked. no connector is always better than the best connector, but perhaps you could use screw terminals at the I/V stage PCB output pads (often used anyway) still uses only the one lot of solder, same as you would have to use if soldering direct except the strain relief situation isnt as critical and you can try different types of wire. just a thought

edit, doh NVM your banned lol

why is Sachu banned? anyone know?

no idea and cant talk about it, but did wonder myself

Sorry guys, bans are not going to be discussed here or anywhere else on these forums.

curiously, wouldnt it be beneficial if members were reminded of the rules in place by letting others know of what actions have such consequences? I believe many historians would concur such actions are required and necessary to keep order and peace among the working classes.

This is the last I'll say - it is the responsibility of the membership to stay current with the rules and abide by them. I'm not here to babysit you or hold your hand.

Now, back on topic, it's still a horrible idea to solder IC's directly to a circuit board and yes, of course there are board mounted connectors that could be used to eliminate the need for hookup wire inside the chassis.
