Also, +1 for the M-Audio Q40s and also a vote for unmodded JVC HA-M750. Way too much bass.

I don't. Not using them or the Q40s until I have time to change the pads and mess with damping.

thanks a lot guys. i will want to get more bassy phones just for fun eventually, but right now i think if i figure out how to get the settings to sound good in creative's control panel ill be alright. i got the bass sounding good, but when there is just a voice or quiet guitar, the sound is almost inaudible. how strange. the drums and rhythm guitar sound good though.
