Shure SRH440 Impression - Page 28

Question --- will Shure SRH440 pair well with DX90 or Fiio X5 unamped ? Thanks

i bought a pair of these not long ago and they are a steal. they have much better sound that the 100 bucks price might indicate. i prefer their sound to my denon d7000.

Mids are very good, lows leave something to be desired. My 2 cents.

i think bass is quite impressive on these. i also have hd 800 wich is my benchmark when i buy new cans and these compete very well. for a 100 bucks they are very very good. they make me understand better the sentence: the law of diminishing returns. people think because you pay 1500 bucks, you are gonna have a godlike pair of cans like in the case of the hd 800. while the hd 800 is a stellar pair of cans, the shure srh440 is a steal at a 100 bucks. the price to performance ratio of these cans is insane.

Get the hm5 pads. My srh440 is heavily modded, hm5 pads, acoustic foam inside the cups (reduce harshness, resonances), some front damping, amazing sound.

Just want to chime in on them. I have listened to a lot of Headphones (and owned quiet a few) but i still come back to them on a regular basis. I also own the Beyerdynamic T1 but rarely listen to them these days, as i really like the Signature of the Shure SRH440. I like my music to sound neutral (some could even say analytical). Basically just the way it was intended from the person who mixed the music in the first place.

I am not sure (since i bought them 4-5 years ago) but i think i am using the SRH840 pads on them, because they were more comfortable. nevertheless, wouldn't want to miss them. For that price, this thing is a true beauty.
