AKG K701 and Little Dot mk3 amp?

Hi

I have been offered to buy a used pair of AKG K701 and Little Dot mk3 amp for about 300 euro.

Is it a good combination?

I'm planing to use a Squeezeboxx and a stand alone DAC (DAC 05 from Danish Audio Design).

Best regards

MKIII is a budget OTL.
I doubt it can provide anywhere near close to the current the K701 needs.
I have no doubt it can provide the gain, though. In fact, I find the gain is way too high for my liking, even on the lowest setting with most cans I've tried with it.

yes. The combo is spectacular. Little Dot amps are an incredible buy.

It really depends on your listening preferences. If you listen to music at medium to lower volumes, the LD should be OK for the AKG's.
If you listen to rock, trance, rap or any genre that uses a lot of bass and like to crank it some, I'd look for a Solid State or hybrid amp.

If your looking for a headphone/amp combo to do well with a wide range of Genres, I'd advise passing on this one.

I use this combo. I threw some EF92s in it and it is pretty darn lush. half volume is too loud for me, and I don't mean one of those whacky audiophile preventative hearing-loss things, I mean it's literally too loud. I listen to trance, dnb, harstyle, electroclash, and psychedelic rock.

Curiously, would this chain of DAC/Amp provide enough power to pump the AKG-k701's:

Styleaudio Emerald DAC --> Starving Student Mini Millet Tube Amp --> k701's?

I'm currently using AD700's and really want to get some k701's
