Fantastically well (I used to own a 32gb S9), but the s:flo2 is said to be even better - something I'd love to hear myself. I prefer my Sony S639's SQ to the S9's, so I sold it. Now, the s:flo2 is said to be even better than my S639 - I gotta try it now!!!!

the HO out of the IMOD sounds exactly like an ipod. the HP out is untouched. without an amp it sounds pretty ordinary, so if you are talking best player from the HP out the IMOD doesnt even figure. HM801 or AleXmoded cowon X5L, as well as the korg MR1 should be firmly at the top of the list. the s:Flo2 sure sounds interesting, but I believe it would be bettered bty any of the above as I have both D10 and a burrbrown PCM1794A dac and the burrbrown unit wipes the floor with the D10. plus the firmware issues are too much for me to get past. the opamps it uses are pretty ordinary and you would have to make a bit of a mess to mod it. an IMODed rockboxed s:Flo2 sounds interesting. I still think the players I mentioned would win out though. i'm lined up for the AleXmod and i'm in the middle of making my own DIY balanced dac'/amp based on the same dac chip with discrete output. but this does not qualify as a DAP, the others do.

but I do wonder WTH the point of this thread is if you dont even intend on buying anything at the end of it. especially since its a duplicate

in case anyone reading hasnt figured it out and wants to be a smart-ass all of the above is most definitely unequivocally IMO

Nope. The s:Flo2 betters the korg MR1 (wider soundstage, more balanced tonality)

Other than what I've read about the HiFiMan, the C-NET August 2005 Editors' Choice Award-winning Sony NW-HD5 Network Walkman.

You don't believe me, see for yourself:

Notice that the late James Kim (R.I.P. my man, you are missed) states that it is the best sounding player they had ever heard, but that he's also using the supplied earphones, just think of what aftermarket phones/buds/IEMs would sound like, it is that good. I own three of them (one I use the other two are N.O.S. and ready to go in case mine ever dies on me), and have rigged them up with a Sony RM-MC40ELK LCD remote and cling wrap-modded MDR-EX90SLs (I got both from Japan), and you can even use a headphone amp if you want with it as well.

I know that there are some folks out there who think that SonicStage is not that good, but use either SS CP 4.2 (Win XP) or 4.3 (Win Vista) and you will be happy with the performance of this player.
