Just bought a sony X1061 $280 shipped!

Well, After much deliberation I finally did it. I love My 2G touch for its UI, but was never blown away by the SQ.
Spent quite a lot of time here trying to figure out what was the best sounding PMP around, I narrowed it down to the sony X or Cowon S9, but there apears to be quite a lot of X fans so i figured that would be the one to get. However, the $399.99USD price tag was just a bit much for my wallet to take considering My touch was just as much and is less than a year old...
( for the price of both i could have a not so prtable but top-o-the heep hifiman....)

So today I looked on sonys web site and they were/are selling the 32 gig unit at $100.00 off and offering another 10% discount to boot! So I couldn't resist....
I hope the SQ is as good as its hyped to be.

Now comes the difficult part, I have a bunch of music that I orderes straight from Itunes, is there any way to port it over to alow it to be played on the sony?

And one other gripe, no FLAC..... My library isnt that huge, so I will be ok with cherry picking my favorite tracks and using lossless, but what a pain in a top notch player. Only hope that rock-box or symilar comes out with a firmware that is more audiophile freindly.....

Now to sell my touch....

They must have a lower state sales tax where you live, the Sony X cost me $291 on the same deal ($21 in tax). Nice deal. The Sony X does play AAC files, but not protected ones. Also, Rockbox will never come to a Sony player.

Only WAV as lossless? No thx

That's it.

It would kill them to support at least one compressed lossless format.

I paid $286.15 ($16.20 in tax) for mine just now. Double checked e-mail confirmation to make sure it was for X1061 (32GB).
One more look at Sony Style site makes me think it could be a mistake on their part. I'll just have to wait & see till I get shipment.

Seems weird, and if you notice, they have the 16gb model listed for $399. My receipt also says 1061, so that's 32GB. It better be the right one, right?

I don't think its a mistake. If it was they would have caught it by now. I think they are just trying to boost sales and move some product for the holidays.

Yea, i noticed that as well, makes me wonder if it is a mistake, cause if i remember correctly the 16G unit used to be $299, and the 32G was $399. seeing the prices swapped is strange, would be a bit easier to belive if they offered the same $100 discount on the 16G unit. However the confirmation email says its the 32G unit so Woo-Hoo, we will see!

Agree on the raised price for the 1051, 16GB. Guess they don't really want to sell any of that model, and force everyone to buy the 1061. Well, it worked. But it seems stupid. Why not discount them both? They would have scooped up a lot of buyers, including me, if they had dropped the price on the 16GB model to $199 plus 10 percent off. I already have the S9 and would have settled for the 16GB model for $19x. But no matter, the money is spent. As I posted elsewhere, I already owned the 1061, for $335 (open box on Amazon), but returned it for the S9. But figured why not own both with this price drop. They will probably cut it even more as Xmas approaches, but I am good with the $291 price.

Hello H22,
Has your order been shipped? I just checked my order status on Sony Style and it still shows as processing. Make me a bit worried.

Mine also says processing. I applied for the 90-day same as cash deal, so I figured that was slowing it down. I'm not worried, they will process it. But it's certainly not like shopping on Amazon.

Just checked ( 8 pm MST 12-01-09 ) and i got the same message, but not that woried, I figure they are swamped, I'll start getting woried in a couple of days though if it doesn't change

Just sprung for a set of slightly used UM3X's, cant wait to hear how this will sound compaired to my current gear ( touch 2g/sansa clip+ > shure310's ). I am hoping to be "blown away"

placed an order yesterday, but I'm pretty sure this will get canceled since it's screaming price mistake. This model isn't exactly popular with the slickdeals/fatwallet community so there's a super slim chance sony might just let it slide. I've been through too many order cancellation deals that it's no biggie if it's canceled.
