Not sure if it's by design (Cyber Monday and all that) or Sony screwed up, but U.S. shoppers who want the 32GB X for $269 can get it at Sonystyle.com. With sales tax, the price is actually $291, which is still an excellent price.

If it is a mistake (it was still in effect as of 2:40p EST), I wonder how long it will last? If it were an S-series with the digital amp, I would buy it. I already had the X1060 and paid $335 for an open box special from Amazon, but even at $291, I still prefer the S9 (which was $250). But it's pretty tempting to send back the S9 and order the Sony at $45 less and get the full-blown package.

For U.S. buyers who want the X-1061 for the best possible price, this is your Cyber Monday deal.

Someone suggested that Sony will sometimes discount only the higher end models, but they also have the 16GB X listed for $399, not the usual $299, so I don't think this is by design.

No matter what, they are offering a 10 percent discount, hence the $269 price plus $21 in tax for the $291 total (at least here in PA). Sony has to charge sales tax in any state where they have a brick and mortar store.

UPDATE: Could not resist at the $291 price. So I now have another Sony X on the way, but almost $50 less than the last one and this one comes with headphones, etc (the open box special did not).
