Headfi Sponsor - SoundCAT - a little about the Korean company who are out to change internet audio

What started out as a trip to get custom impressions has turned into a bi-monthly meeting, chat, and sometimes drink with SoundCAT, one of headfi's sponsors. They also sponsor South Korea's largest audio website, cdpKorea, work together with Uncle Wilson, and supply many of the products which we rave about every day to the Asian market.

Their shop is stuck right in the middle of one of the most interesting, chaotic techno marketplaces I have ever been, Yongsan. You can get anything there, and if not wary, can be way overcharged. But, I found the place after searching for custom impressions on Google, met the staff and had the chance to meet and greet with Jays' Tim Mabley, a very nice gentleman who has had both feet in the audio industry since I before I was in diapers.

If you are in East Asia, Korea in particular, this company is a great place for the newest headphones, amps, cables, accessories, and after service. And, if you get them at the right time, you might just get to meet some big exec from the likes of Sensaphonics, Jays, or someone else...

Anyway, I wrote a little about my experiences with them since coming to Korea, and about their business which is revolutionary in the stodgy Korean market.

Isn't it just great to see a local dealer also interested in getting close to the customer and listening to enthusiast's opinion?

a bit OT, if you are in Singapore at a regular Friday's night, try and go visit Uncle Wilson @ Jaben.net. He always host a small audiophiles' get together with free food and drink at his shop every Friday (do visit Jaben forum to confirm).

Yeah, I keep hoping to be able to drop by Uncle Wilson's sometime, but Singapore is a looooong way from South Korea. The truth is that Asia is so damn big!

You should drop by Fukuoka sometime then, if you'd like to try some Stax and AT cans.

How about donating a few pair of those sherwoods for a loaner program here. If they are any good this is a great way of getting folks excited about an unproven phone.
